We have been working hard in room 5 for the list three weeks so Viv decided that it was time for a bit of fun! She gave each row a planter pack containing a container with some seed raising mix, three packets of seeds and a clear cover to place over it after we had planted the seeds. Viv drew lines on the planter boxes and stuck the empty seed packets on the side so we could remember which seeds were in each part. We had fun picking up the tiny seeds. That was tricky! We took turns placing the seeds on the growing mix and pressed them in gently. After that we gently poured one and a half cups of water over our mixes and placed the clear top on. The seed growing mix swelled up straight away. It says on the packet that the seeds will sprout in about 5 days.

What if ....

We used the what if key today to help us think creatively.
What if we were invertebrates?

• You couldn' t stand up.
• We would fall down a drain.
• You could get squashed.
• We would be squashed by elephants rottweillers lions etc.
• Your head would touch the ground.
• Swimming would probably be your best thing but you would not swim properly.
• You could slide under people's doors.
• Our backs would fall forward.
• We would fall over backwards.
• You might not be able to move.
• You would have to flop on the ground.
• You could put your head through your legs.
• You wouldn't be able t do handstands.
• You would be flexible.

The winning group scored 8 points forthe number of ideas and for originality.

Inquiry Learning

We have been classifying and things into groups of Living and non-living things so we can find out the groups that we belong to. Next we classified Living things into Plants, Animals and others like Bacteria and Fungi or mould.
We are in the Animals group!
Today we watched a movie about vertebrates and invetebrates.
We are in the Vertebrates group!
